Being the huge Mac-lovers that we are here at Hide & Seek Media we are anxiously awaiting Apple’s release of the highly touted OS X Lion desktop operating system this month. However, the thing we are most excited about is the potential release of the long-awaited refresh of the Macbook Air, which many expect will come at the same time as the new operating system.
According to 9 to 5 Mac, sources say that Apple has scheduled an overnight for its retail stores on July 13th, lining right up with the release date for the OS X Lion. During these overnights, the employees are trained on the new technology and the store displays are updated to promote their new products.
While this fact alone does not ensure the Macbook Air’s release, given Apple’s history with releasing new products at the same time as their operating systems and the fact that the last Macbook Air came out in October of 2010 (ages ago in the world of technology), we think it’s a safe bet. Also, Apple may be sending us some subliminal hints with every example of the OS X Lion’s new features being displayed on a Macbook Air on their website!
We expect the new Macbook Airs to come with the fast and efficient i5/i7 “Sandy Bridge” processors and the brand new Thunderbolt I/O ports, both of which were featured on the most recent editions of the Macbook Pro that was released in February. There have been rumors of some other possible new features, but we really won’t have any idea about them until the notebook’s actual release. Personally, I have my fingers crossed for the return of the backlit keyboard! Tell us what you think in the poll below!
